How many photos can 2TB hold?

The biggest iPhone size, and more room than most photo libraries ever use.

Photos that fit: 666,666

Our largest plan: 1 TB for $5/mo

2 TB holds about 666,666 photos from a recent iPhone, at 3 MB each. In camera RAW that is about 74,074 files. Few personal libraries come near it unless they hold years of video. Each step up in photo setting, from HEIF Max to ProRAW, lowers the count.

2 TB on a phone, and whether you need it

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can be ordered with 2 TB, the largest size Apple lists for them. That suits people who film in high-quality formats all day. For a photo library, measure before you buy: Settings > General > iPhone Storage shows how much space Photos uses. Most libraries fit in a terabyte or less, and our biggest size is 1 TB for $5/mo. Compare every size and price to find the one your library needs.

How to use the calculator

The tool opens at 2 TB with a recent iPhone's default photo. Pick another photo type to see its count, or type a different size to compare.

How the count is worked out

Each count is the storage divided by the size of one photo, rounded down. Storage is sold in decimal units: 1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Photo sizes are typical, not fixed, because a detailed scene makes a bigger file than a plain one.

When it fills up

Copy the photos you want to keep somewhere with more room before you delete anything. Every StorageBites size and price is on the pricing page, and each file is encrypted in your browser before upload.

Frequently asked questions

How many pictures does 2TB hold?

About 666,666 phone photos, 229,885 camera JPEGs or 74,074 RAW files. Each count is the drive's size in megabytes divided by one photo. Real libraries mix photo types, so the true figure sits between them.

How many 48 MP photos fit in 2TB?

About 400,000 in HEIF Max at 5 MB, or 26,666 in ProRAW at 75 MB. ProRAW is the setting that can really fill a phone this big. Most people switch it on for a few shots, then switch it back off.

Do I need 2TB of storage for photos?

Probably not. Taking 30 pictures a day, 1 TB lasts about thirty years, and half of that space would last fifteen. Video and RAW archives are the cases that need more.

How many pics can a 2TB drive hold for a photographer?

About 74,074 RAW frames, or 56,022 if every shot also saves a JPEG. A busy wedding photographer can shoot that in a few seasons. Many split the archive by year so no single drive holds everything.

How many photos can 2 TB hold compared with 1 TB?

Exactly twice as many: about 666,666 against 333,333 at the default iPhone size. The real question is how big your library is now. A library of 300 GB grows into a terabyte slowly, so the larger size can wait.
